New Highway 7 – Kitchener to Guelph

Phase 3 – Advance Clearing and Fencing

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) continues to move forward with the new Highway 7 from Kitchener to Guelph following a three phased approach. Engineering and field work for the remainder of New Highway 7 is ongoing. Additional information on the New Highway 7 can be found at: www.newhighway7.ca.

The engineering and environmental work for Phase 3 is progressing including preparing separate Design and Construction Reports (DCRs) in accordance with MTO’s Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities, 2000 (Class EA) as a Group ‘A’ project.

The Design and Construction Report

The DCR will typically include the following content:

  • Purpose of the DCR

  • Project Description

  • Recommended Plan

  • Consultation Process

  • Environmental Concerns and Mitigation Measures

  • Commitments to Further Work

Once the DCR is prepared, the Notice of Completion will be issued and mark the beginning of the 30-calendar day comment period. The comment period provides an opportunity for any interested party including the public to provide comments to the Project Team.

The DCR for the vegetation clearing and fencing of the new Highway 7 alignment is now available and can be viewed by clicking here.

The Notice of Completion for the DCR can be viewed by clicking here.
